Belgian mobile market is not as advanced as in some European countries, but quite stable and extended. Belgacom, one of its main players, was partly privatized in 1996, and now owns roughly a half of market share is the sphere of telecommunications. Internet access in Belgium is based primarily on DSL and cable technologies, promoted by some 60 ISPs. The country rates the eighth in the top 10 list of nations with the highest connection speed of 24 Mbit/s. Besides, it can boast quite good connectivity and ADSL penetration into most parts of its territory. However, having access to the Internet, users are usually limited in the volume of information they can transfer (commonly from 5 to 35 GB). This fact strongly affects the competition in the sphere. Cable Internet is also provided by some brands, the most known of them is Telenet, offering connection speed up to 25 Mbit/sec for download.

As for TV-channels and television services, Belgian companies offer SD and HD technologies, which find their place on dozens of TV-channels, provided by several broadcasting stations. Television in the country has over 5 million subscribers. Radio is served according to language communities, e.g. VRT is responsible for radio in Dutch regions, and RTBF serves channels for French-speaking people.
